Safe deploys on Polygon zkEVM: L2 Scaling with Smart Accounts

We are excited to announce that Safe has successfully integrated with Polygon zkEVM, bringing Safe’s battle-tested smart accounts infrastructure to the infinitely scalable, zk-powered Ethereum L2 chain.

Both Safe{Wallet}, widely used by web3 teams to manage their onchain treasuries, as well as the Safe{Core} account abstraction stack, are now fully deployed and ready for users and developers to interact, play, manage assets, and build with on Polygon zkEVM.

News of the integration was first shared during the inaugural Safe{Con} on Sun Sep 10 in Berlin by Co-Founder of Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal.

What’s in it for you?

Together, the integration brings together the modularity and flexibility of smart accounts with the infinite scalability of the zk-powered L2 chain:

  • Gold standard for treasury asset management: From treasury tasks to governance, Safe{Wallet} on Polygon zkEVM makes asset management and coordination fast and secure.
  • Boosting developers: With Safe{Core}, our developer kit, builders can leverage Safe’s battle-tested smart contracts to build novel use-cases on Polygon zkEVM with no compromise on speed and security.

Power up with Polygon zkEVM

zkEVM is a pioneering solution in Ethereum-compatible blockchains that emphasises scalability and privacy. By integrating zero-knowledge proofs (zk-proofs) with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Polygon zkEVM promises vast scalability and enhanced transaction privacy. With it, users benefit from swift transactions of just 2-3 seconds at minimal cost.

Why Safe?

With $50B worth of digital assets under management, Safe is the most trusted decentralised custody protocol and collective asset management platform on Ethereum and the EVM. At the same time, Safe{Core} is changing the game for web3 builders. This groundbreaking Safe{Core} SDK, shaped alongside industry leaders such as Stripe, Gelato, and Web3Auth, arms developers with the tools they need to successfully implement account abstraction in their projects.

Whether you’re building out a use case in gaming, NFTs, or decentralised social platforms, it just got a whole lot easier for your project to benefit from account abstraction.

L2 Scaling and Smart Accounts

The synergies between Safe and Polygon keep expanding. With the recent launch of PolygonCDK and Safe{Core} Protocol, the future’s looking bright for web3 builders. Safe SDK has the potential to become the de facto account abstraction stack preferred by Polygon zkEVM app chains.

Gnosis Pay is a prime example of what Safe and Polygon can build together. The world’s first decentralised payment network including a debit card leverages Safe’s smart accounts with Polygon’s scalability.

Each Gnosis Pay card is linked to a Safe smart account on both Gnosis chain and Polygon zkEVM, a setup that resembles having two separate accounts for savings and daily spend.

Accelerating two transitions: the future of Ethereum

L2 Scaling and smart accounts are recognised as two out of the three transitionsnecessary for Ethereum to advance. The integration of Safe with Polygon zkEVM’s scaling capabilities has the potential to redefine the Ethereum user experience.

“L2 Scaling and smart accounts are two of the most critical transitions we need to make and I couldn’t be happier to accelerate these two transitions on Ethereum with Polygon. We look forward to bringing the Safe Smart Account to Polygon zkEVM in an effort to make it the de-facto account standard on Polygon’s innovative scaling solution”. – Lukas Schor, Co-Founder of Safe

“Polygon zkEVM devs can unlock the potential of Safe{Core} SDK for smart wallets and versatile account abstraction. It’s a potential game-changer for gaming, retail wallets, social media, and more, offering features like social recovery and seamless onboarding.” – Sandeep Nailwal, Co-Founder of Polygon
